An everyday security challenge and politically sensitive region, Jammu and Kashmir doesn’t have an elected government and legislature since June 2018. Promises of an early election have been made by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister but there is no clear timeline for restoration of legislature. Even as the Lieutenant Governor and his administration is making best efforts to provide clean and efficient governance, but in democracy there is no replacement of elected government. The absence of elected government has already caused political vacuum which is not good in the long term. In this episode of The Dispatch, Zafar Choudhary suggests formation of an interim Advisory Council till the regular political process is restored.
